CLIP College Hour Report#1
Yesterday I went to a CLIP College Hour in S112. I listened to three presentations. The topic was "what you can do to get help." When you need help, you should talk to someone about your problem or call 311 so someone can help you. For example, if a family has a problem about a husband hitting his wife, the wife might not say anything to get help because she doesn't want to break her family. Finally, she talks to someone and calls 311 to get help. The advice is if your family has a problem or violence you can talk to someone to get help or call311 and someone can help you. If you don't say anything, the problem never stops so when you have a problem you should talk to get help. It is good for you and your family.
CLIP College Hour Report#2
College hour is a program to give us a lot of information for our college life. We learned about three topics from the last college hour, and they are “Single Stop”, “Career Path” and “ASAP”. “Single Stop” can help us get some information about financial and regulation issues. “Single Stop” also includes some other benefits. “Career Path” can help us find a career. “ASAP” can help us graduate quickly. They are all very important for our college life because they can help us to deal with problems. These three topics can make our college life easier.
One interesting program we learned about is “Single Stop.” “Single Stop” is a good program for my college life. There are four types of services in the Single Stop program. They are “Quick Benefits Screening”, “Financial Counseling”, “Legal Assistance and Tax Preparation”. “Quick Benefits Screening” includes Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, Health Insurance, Childcare, Housing Opportunities and Safe Link Wireless. The Financial counseling program can provide us with our credit reports and tips on how to budget our money. The Financial Counseling program is can also assistance with our financial goals. Legal Assistance includes housing, family law, consumer law, immigration and more. Tax Preparation can help us and our family pay taxes. The Single Stop program is for all the students, and we can get help from library Building, Room 432-A. The phone number is 718-631-6347.
The second topic is “Career Path.” “Career Path” is designed for “needs meet wants.” In other words, different careers need intelligences to fulfill requirement. There are a lot of occupations that need to be fulfilled by technical talents. However, most college students cannot find the right job after they graduate from college. The essential problem could be they didn’t choose the right majors for their future careers. Even though there are many available jobs, the majors that they studies don’t match these career duties’ needs. “Career Path” aims at this problem and makes some solutions for this problem. This problem offers enough information and course about what types of job are needed to fulfill. This program can also help college students to make the right choices about their future careers and Career Path program is easy to apply. If you need detail information about “Career Path”, then you can go to the website www.cunycareerpath.edu to get more information from there.
The last topic is” ASAP.” It is QCC’s “Accelerated Study in Associate Programs.” It is designed to help community college students earn their degree as quickly as probable. Most community college students worry about how to graduate. In this program, it can help you find a correct and quick way to let you earn your degree and graduate. In QCC, there are faculty and staff help you with you every step of the way. It also includes reduced tuition for financial aid eligible students, free textbooks and monthly Metro cards for all students. If you want to need more information about “ASAP”, you can go to www.qcc.cuny.edu/asap or call (718) 631-6680 to get more information.
In conclusion, there is a group of faculty and staff that will help you experience college life. They will use many different ways to support your academic life and career goal. These three programs can help students to accomplish their goals. Not only these three programs, but other programs as well. There are many student assistance agencies that will help you to reach your achievement in college. You should voluntarily ask for help from these programs, so that you can construct your academic community well being. I’m personally pretty interested about this program because I may choose the “Environmental Science” major in college, which is a pretty good match with ”Career Path” program’s “green jobs” topic. I think I can refer to this website when I make my study plan, so that I can more clear about my intention.

Class visit
Last month, I was pleasure that
visited a college class. I had chosen to visit the astronomy class. This class
was in Room S313 where I met. I started class at 1:10 and the class met until 2:30.
Extending the cosmic distance scale was my topic of discussion. In class, the
professor taught us how to find the distance to a star. Spectroscopic
parallax is
an astronomical method for measuring the distances to stars. It was interested
to me because in my childhood l liked to watch stars or use telescope watched
them. In this class, I saw someone did he want to do, ate food, and played cell
phone or I Pad. If you want to get an A in this class, I recommend you take notes
when the professor teaches.
